Join our neighbors from 17th Street Barbecue in Murphysboro, IL for their 35th Anniversary of the Praise the Lard BBQ Cook-Off this weekend – September 22 – 24th, 2022. With a full weekend schedule of events and guaranteed deliciousness, there is something for the entire family.

Teams from 15 states will gather and compete in Steak and BBQ events, and Praise the Lard is a qualifying event for the World Food Championships. Praise the Lard is nationally recognized as one of the best places to experience and celebrate the competitive barbecue circuit lifestyle, the Memphis Barbecue Network (MBN) and the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) sanctioned weekend evaluates competitors for fish, wings, chicken, shoulder, ribs, brisket, and the whole hog. Competitors will vie for the coveted titles of Grand Champion, entry into Memphis in May, the Kansas City Royal, and the Jack Daniel’s draw.

Locals are even encouraged to join in on the competition by participating in Friday night’s Steak Cook-Off and Saturday’s Bloody Mary Contest!

Live music will be playing for Friday Night’s Street Dance and Saturday’s festivities.
